What is FDI Technology’s Air Defence & C-UAS solution?

FDI Technology’s Air Defence & C-UAS solution integrates surveillance, electro-optical tracking, fire-control and engagement systems within a coordinated architecture for countering unmanned aerial systems and other low-altitude airborne threats.

The architecture supports fixed and mobile deployment concepts and can be configured according to platform, mission and command-and-control integration requirements.

Relevant FDI systems include FALCON 23-4M LIGHTNING, FALCON 23-4M LIGHTNING Mobile and FALCON EYE.

Integrated Air Defence for Emerging Threats

The growing use of unmanned aerial systems and loitering munitions is changing air-defence requirements. Protecting assets against low-altitude threats requires a system approach shaped by the mission and operating environment.

FDI Technology develops integrated air-defence and counter-unmanned aircraft systems (Counter-UAS / C-UAS) solutions. The approach connects complementary equipment within a coordinated defensive structure, with defined roles for system elements and operators.

Solutions support the protection of critical infrastructure, military installations, airfields and other strategic assets. The configuration reflects the location to be protected, available platforms and integration requirements.

Integrated C-UAS Architecture

The C-UAS architecture connects detection and surveillance with electro-optical tracking, fire-control and engagement functions. Sensor information supports the assessment of an aerial target, while tracking data provides a basis for fire-control and a coordinated response.

Fixed, mobile and remotely operated configurations are considered within the same operational framework. Interfaces with existing command-and-control environments are defined alongside the selected equipment.

Target identification and classification support the operator’s target-assessment and engagement-decision process. Responsibilities across system elements, operators and the command environment are defined according to operational requirements.

From Detection to Engagement

  1. Detection

Surveillance and sensor information provide the initial basis for assessing an aerial target.

  2. Tracking

Electro-optical tracking maintains observation for target assessment.

  3. Fire Control

Fire-control functions link tracking data with the compatible weapon platform and operator.

  4. Engagement

Engagement elements support a controlled response against the target within the coordinated defence architecture.

Operational Deployment

Fixed configurations support the protection of strategic locations, while mobile configurations address changing operational environments and deployable-force requirements.

Deployment is planned around the mission, available platforms and existing command-and-control infrastructure. The arrangement of fixed and mobile elements reflects the intended operational role.

The protected asset, the operator’s working environment and required interfaces guide system positioning and the scope of integration.

Layered System Integration

FDI Technology’s system approach is based on different sensor and engagement elements operating within a common fire-control architecture. This enables existing platforms to be incorporated according to mission requirements and different configurations to be managed within a shared operational framework.

FALCON EYE forms the electro-optical tracking and fire-control layer in compatible system configurations, while the FALCON 23-4M LIGHTNING family serves in the engagement layer.

The system composition is configured according to mission, platform, deployment and integration requirements.
